@chirpbirb if you have a few friends who do play Minecraft on the regular it can be pretty fun to have an SMP for the group. I tried it a couple times but my friends just aren't Minecraft people in general so it tends to die out in a couple months at most, and I ended up taking the world from our last playthrough and making it my single player world which I've been playing on for a couple years now.
